BIOGRAPHY

Bram Schouw (The Hague, 1979) graduates with honors at the Utrecht School of the Arts. His graduation film MARRIAGE is the official opening film for Curta Cinema Rio de Janeiro 2005.

His second short film IMPASSE has its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2008 as part of the feature film Stories On Human Rights. The project gets selected at renowned film festivals in New York, Berlin and Sarajevo. IMPASSE receives a Special Mention at the International Amsterdam Film Festival and wins the NFTVM Vers Award for young Dutch filmmakers.

After directing the tv film NINA SATANA and episodes of highly acclaimed television series as OVERSPEL and VAN GOD LOS, Bram Schouw wins a Golden Calf (Dutch Academy Award) at the Netherlands Film Festival with the short film SEVILLA. The film premieres in Clermont-Ferrand, gets selected at more than 100 international film festivals and is announced to be in Vimeo’s 10 Best Of The Year 2014.

Written with longtime friend and collaborators Marcel Roijaards, Bram makes his first feature BROERS (BROTHERS), a personal road movie about a young man following the footsteps of his rebellious and destructive older brother. The film premieres at Premiers Plan in Angers, France January 2018. BROERS wins the MovieZone Award at the Dutch Film Festival and gets awarded ao for BEST NEW DIRECTOR at Brooklyn International Film Festival New York.

Besides fiction Bram Schouw directs commercials. His work for mostly socially committed clients as gets rewarded with Bronze and Silver Lions in Cannes. In 2016 he was chosen Best Director at the ADCN, Netherlands. Bram is represented by Bonkers United (Amsterdam). 

Childhood Dreams, an original series by Marnie Blok & Bram Schouw, has its world premiere during Canneseries 2023. The 9×50 minutes and widely acclaimed family saga follows the bittersweet journey of a family as they navigate through love, loss, and life over several generations. Nominated for both the Prix Europe as well as for two Dutch Academy Awards, Childhood Dreams wins Best Series at the New York Festival TV & Film Awards 2024. 

Bram lives in Marseille together with Paloma Aquilera Valdebenito and their son Roman Gabriel. ❤️
